We have recently acquired a collection of books of vintage sheet music. Whilst
most of these don't have printed dates, there are annotations in various of the
books, which all seem contemporaneous with each other. One book carries the
publication date of 1809. Handwritten dates are listed on occasion to the
1830s, most likely placing the publication of the books to the times of George
III (reigned 1760-1820), George IV (reigned 1820-1830), and King William IV in
the UK (reigned 1830-1837); pre-Victorian era. The earliest handwritten date we
have noticed is 1799. Acquired in Scotland. Please see individual listings for
full details.

This book carries a printed date to one of the title pages of 1816.

Title page reads 'A Series of Sacred Songs, Duetts and Trios, The Words by
Thomas Moore Esq., The Music by Sir John Stevenson, Mus. Dor. and Mr Moore.
Published by J. Power, London, 1816. Index lists compositions by Stevenson,
Martini, Beethoven, Haydn, Avison, Mozart and Moore.

In good condition. Full leather hardback with gilt decoration to front and
rear with 5 raised bands to spine. On the spine is the title 'Moore's Melodies;
Sacred III'. One page has been torn out before the title page - possibly a
blank endpaper?

Bumping and wear to cover and cracking at hinge, but all still soundly bound.
Marbled endpapers and marbled edges to text block. Creasing to endpaper.
Previous owner's annotation to first title page. Text in very good condition
throughout. Soundly bound. A scarce music book of this era.

178 numbered pages.

Dimensions:

Approximately 336mm high x 266mm wide x 26mm deep.
